MYmind is an evidence-based mindfulness program specifically adapted for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). MYmind combines Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT). Kimberley trained in MYmind at the University of Amsterdam.

mindful kids & Parents

Mindful Kids & Parents is a mindfulness program for children aged 8-12 to attend with their parents. Attending the program together, kids and parents learn focusing and quieting techniques they can use in stressful emotional situations.  This program is based on Mindful Games, developed by Susan Kaiser Greenland, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

In her counselling practice, Kimberley draws on expertise in a variety of clinical modalities, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and self-compassion, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Psychobiological Attachment Couple Therapy (PACT), and solution-focused therapy, to select and build counselling programs for individuals, couples, and families. Kimberley's services can be covered by extended health insurance.

Kimberley's MYmind program is a program for children aged 9-12 with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to attend together with their parents. In the program, parents and children learn a variety of mindfulness techniques, including breathing, stretching and attention exercises. In a collaborative and supportive environment, parents and children also develop MYmind practice they can employ at home.

supporting research

Research from the University of Amsterdam demonstrates that MYmind mindfulness training lessens anxious and sad feelings and improves behaviour and social communication in children and adolescents with ASD. Parents can employ MYmind skills to guard against stress and burnout and to enhance their psychological well-being. They can further support their overwhelmed child by encouraging them to use MYmind tools to calm down. As a result of mindfulness training, parents feel more competent in their ability to parent their child.
