Breathing in, I calm body and mind. Breathing out, I smile. Dwelling in the present moment I know this is the only moment.
— Thich Nhat Hanh

Mindfulness Training

I have trained in MYmind at the University of Amsterdam and in MBSR for Health Professionals. I have attended retreats around the world: Plum Village with Thich Nhat Hanh in France (2016,) Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for Health Professionals (Omega Institute, NY, 2019,) Energy Medicine Retreats (2005- present; Four Winds, Heidi McBratney, Donna Eden.) I began my career post university as a yoga instructor and wellness educator, part of the first wave of yoga instruction in the GTA.

Currently, I adapt my training in mindfulness to individual, couple or family therapy.

Mindfulness for You

For adults and parents, I create an individualized program to address your specific situation. Mindfulness is most often used to enhance skills for coping with the anxiety of daily living or shifting from depressive to constructive thinking. I have created mindfulness programs for teens dealing with a tragic loss, coping with chronic pain, or school avoidance, and for adults recovering from a car accident, dealing with a depression due to work conflict or job loss, coping with a progressive illness, or enhancing appreciation and gratitude for life just as it is. I also create programs using mindfulness, ritual and imagery for post-miscarriage, preparation for birth or to rescript traumatic experiences. I rely on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and the work of Elisha Goldstein, Judson Brewer, Tara Brach, and Jon Kabat Zinn, combined with practices from contemplative traditions which focus on mind training, awareness of emotions and choosing wise actions.
